Motor City Geek attended the 8th annual Flint ComixCon at the Flint Farmers’ Market last month and is here with a recap! This was an event I have been looking forward to for quite some time; downtown Flint is quite nice so any excuse to visit the Flint Farmer’s Market is welcome.
The event was kicked off by the 7th annual Superhero 5K Run and 1K Fun Run. The race was hosted by the Weiss Child Advocacy Center and all proceeds went to help the children of Genesee County that have been abused, abandoned, and neglected. There were adults and children of all ages dressed up in Superhero costumes and capes to partake in this family friendly run!
One day a year, publishers and creators set aside the need to do business and in the spirit of the craft they give away works of art and stories crafted with care. No, this isn’t Christmas, it’s Free Comic Book Day! So I hope you got out there and had a good time like we did because the Motor City Geek crew made some miles this year. With five comic shops all over Metro Detroit under our belt, we came away as some very happy shoppers!
The convention that refuses to quit! #NotCon2017 or otherwise known as the Fan Appreciation Event put on by the folks that run the regrettably canceled Midwest Media Expo. Verneita and Morgan pulled this great event together at the last minute and I can say it was a resounding success. Here are our photos from the weekend! Full recap coming soon, plus an interview with Jon St. John!
After Dark: Mardi Gras at the Michigan Science Center
The Michigan Science Center brought the French Quarter to Detroit: Jazz, booze and, most importantly, people ready to party!
