Motor City Comic Con 2017 – Media Guest Update!

Motor City Comic Con 2017 – Media Guest Update!

Michael Rooker

Noted character actor and badass Michael Rooker is going to be a big draw to 2017 MCCC. Rooker played the whistle while you work (and murder) guy in Guardian’s of the Galaxy and our favorite one-handed villain on Walking Dead. Rooker is also a regular in a few Kevin Smith films (Mallrats and Mallbrats). He’s been acting since before I was born and has over a hundred credits on IMDB. Let’s put it this way. If you’ve never seen Michael Rooker in anything, we probably can’t be friends.

Sean Gunn

Ahhh, Kirk. Sean Gunn started as a bit player on the fast-talking dramedy Gilmore Girls and grew that bit part into one of the most beloved roles in the entire series. He also has a notable role in Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol 1 & 2) which happen to be directed by his brother, James Gunn. He’s had roles on Angel, Glee, Bunheads, Superstore and plenty more.

Kristy Swanson

Buffy! Sure I’m a bigger fan of the TV Show, but my husband and I have had many debates about the two Buffys and I can appreciate Swanson for bringing cheerleading and kicking ass together on the big screen.  She gets bonus points from me for being one of my favorite guest stars on Psych. Kristy Swanson has over 80 credits on IMDB including Pretty In Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Big Daddy and 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag.

Shannon Elizabeth

The sexy girl from everything! She played Nadia in the American Pie movies, Justice in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and one of the sexy American girls in Love Actually. She also had roles in Thirteen Ghosts, That 70’s Show and Scary Movie (just to name a few). But she’s not just a pretty face. Shannon Elizabeth is one of the leading celebrity poker players and helped found Animal Avengers, a non-profit animal rescue organization.

Green Power Ranger is coming to the Motor City! JDF is an accomplished mixed martial artist. He’s a seventh-degree black belt and holds numerous Rising Sun Karate accomplishments and awards. He was in over 200 episodes of various installments of Power Rangers and, even better, he’ll be doing a dual photo op with the Pink Power Ranger, Amy Jo Jonson (Click here!)

Big Van Vader

Counting the previously announced Sting, this makes two big names in wrestling joining 2017 MCCC. Vader performed for numerous organizations (including my favorite based on name alone: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling). He was a super heavyweight wrestler capable of aerial maneuvers such as the Vadersault, which can’t possibly be as cool as it sounds (spoiler alert, it is… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRVn_XZPoYM)

Motor City Comic Con Update 2017

After the awesomeness of the Ron Perlman announcement last week (See HERE) , MCCC has released a stream of upcoming media guests. To keep you on the up and up, MotorCityGeek is giving you the rundown and a few (unsolicited) opinions.

Aly Michalka – Aly Michalka got her start on Disney’s Phil of the Future, but most current audiences would recognize her as Peyton from iZombie. She has had major roles in Hellcats and Two and a Half Men and is one half of the hit recording group Aly and Aj. I’ve never heard an Aly and Aj song but now that I know Peyton from iZombie IS Aly, I have the sudden urge to YouTube this…

Amy Jo Johnson – Amy Jo Johnson is the Pink Power Ranger. Okay, she’s been in all 75 episodes of Flashpoint and had major reoccurring roles on Covert Affairs, Felicity and a plethora of other shows, she will always be the Pink Power Ranger to me. And, as a child of the nineties, I mean that as a sincere compliment.

Marky Ramone – Like the name suggests, Marky was a drummer for the legendary band, the Ramones. Not familiar with The Ramones? If you don’t get “I Wanna Be Sedated” in your head just by reading this, I demand you go to YouTube immediately.

Appearing

Mena Suvari – Mena Suvari will always be the girl in American Beauty wearing nothing but rose petals to me. Why? No idea. I’ve never seen the movie. But I have seen her in American Pie (I &II) Loser, Spun, Rumor Has It and her guest role in American Horror Story’s first season. She’s been in dozens of other roles in TV and Film and has definitely left her mark on the industry.  And if you’re wondering why she’s coming to a Comic Con, she has done a lot of voice work, including Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts II.

Appearing
Fri | Sat | Sun

Autograph

Photo Ops

Sting – Sting is a retired professional wrestler. His prolific career spans over three decades and he is considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. I know next to nothing about wrestling and even I know who Sting is. Sting has held 25 total championships between the WCW and TNA (that apparently stands for World Championship Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, which might be my favorite name for anything ever).

Appearing
Saturday Only

Autograph
$60

Photo Ops – According to MCCC, he WILL be in face paint for the photos.
$100

Zach McGowan – McGowan is currently a series regular on The 100 and plays Captain Charles Vane on STARZ hot pirate show Black Sails. With 44 different credits to his name on IMDB, this guy has been around. And since the subtitle on his website is “That Guy From That Show”, I like him more already.
